About Us

Welcome to the Samajam – Your Bridge to Kerala in Auckland

At Auckland Malayali Samajam, our mission is clear: to nurture, preserve, and celebrate the rich cultural and linguistic heritage of the Malayalee community here in Auckland, New Zealand. As a non-profit charitable organization, we are dedicated to promoting the unique traditions of Kerala and fostering connections among the Malayalees living in New Zealand, while enriching the diverse cultural fabric of our host nation.

The Samajam was founded with the vision of keeping the vibrant Malayalee culture alive and thriving in our new homeland. We aim to provide a supportive and inclusive environment where Malayalees can come together to celebrate our traditions, share our heritage, and build lasting friendships. Our initiatives include offering Malayalam language classes to ensure that the younger generation remains connected with their roots.

Our organization is driven by several key objectives:

  • Fostering Unity and Friendship: We strive to strengthen bonds among Malayalee communities and other cultural groups in New Zealand, promoting solidarity and mutual respect.

  • Supporting Integration: We assist our community members in integrating into New Zealand society through various activities and programs.

  • Cultural Education: We are committed to educating our youth about their rich heritage and helping them grow into responsible and culturally aware citizens.

  • Cultural and Family Values: Through cultural functions and collaborative efforts with other organizations, we promote the importance of family values and cultural solidarity.

  • Awareness and Education: We aim to address important social issues such as family violence, substance abuse, and health education, fostering a healthier and more informed community.

  • Immigrant Support: We offer assistance to new immigrants to help them settle smoothly into their new environment.

  • Promoting Activities: We encourage participation in sports, cultural activities, and other community-driven events to enrich our collective experience.

  • Fundraising and Property Management: To support our objectives, we raise funds and manage properties responsibly, ensuring that we have the resources needed to achieve our goals.

Our mission is to enhance the lives of our members and the broader community by promoting our cultural heritage, educating the public, and expanding our reach. We are committed to making a positive impact, both within our community and in the wider New Zealand society.

Join us in our journey to celebrate and share the vibrant heritage of Kerala. Together, we can make a difference and build a stronger, more connected community.
